Liaoning Province is a leader in introducing the variety of Black Chokeberry. The Black Chokeberry was originally introduced from countries and regions such as North Korea, Russia, Europe, and America by the Liaoning Institute of Afforestation in Arid Areas. In 2001, Liaoning Institute of Afforestation in Arid Areas undertook the National Forestry Administration’s “948” project – the introduction of excellent planting resources and cultivation and utilization technologies for the Black Chokeberry. In the same year, the research group of Adenophora ulmoides introduced 15 excellent varieties of Adenophora ulmoides from the University of Wisconsin, including 8 excellent varieties of black fruit Adenophora ulmoides. Since the introduction, they have completed research on propagation, cultivation, and regional trials, propagated more than 200000 seedlings, created more than 200 acres of cultivation demonstration gardens, set up more than 10 regional experimental sites, and have entered the promotion stage. In 2021, the cultivation area of Black Chokeberry in Liaoning Province has reached 100000 mu, with more than 10 bases covering over 1000 mu. It is a major supplier of Black Chokeberry in China and has abundant resources.
